Skatepark Kapermolen Hasselt, bringing new life to a legendary spot
For years, the Kapermolen Skatepark has been an iconic spot in Hasselt and far beyond. Following the redevelopment of the surrounding city park, the renovation of the skatepark marked the final piece of this major urban project.
Nine Yards was comissioned to design and build a contemporary, sustainable, and versatile skatepark that seamlessly integrates with its surroundings, while honoring the rich history of Kapermolen.

A new future for a legendary skatepark
The City of Hasselt aimed to create an accessible and future-proof skatepark that fits seamlessly within the renewed Kapermolen Park. The goal: to build a place where different urban sports come together, offering challenges for both beginners and advanced riders.
Together with the local skate collective KPM Skate, we translated the community’s wishes into a design that carefully considers the park’s shape, height, and integration within the new city landscape.
From design to realization, co-created with the Hasselt skate community
Nine Yards was responsible for both the design and construction of the 2000 m² skatepark. From the initial sketches to the final design, community participation was key: the close-knit Hasselt skate scene was actively involved throughout the process.
The park is built using durable materials such as corten steel ledges and colored concrete, giving it a distinctive look and a long lifespan. Thanks to the variety of elements, the park offers space and challenge for all disciplines and skill levels.
