Form old skatepark to free-form skate bowl in Osdorp-Midden
On the site of the former skatepark in Osdorp’s city park, a completely new skate facility has been built. Studio Soma’s design was translated by Nine Yards into an executable version, with technical adjustments for production and an optimal skate experience.
The result: a compact yet versatile flow bowl featuring a quarter pipe, spine, roll-in, speedbump, and organic lines that invite speed and creativity.
Part of a larger urban sports vision
The Osdorp-Midden skatepark was realized in close collaboration with the Municipality of Amsterdam, who initiated the park’s redevelopment. The skate bowl forms part of a broader city park upgrade, which also includes a freerun zone, calisthenics area, and fountain designed by Studio Soma. Germico acted as the main contractor, coordinating on-site execution, while Nine Yards constructed the bowl and translated the design into a buildable, durable skate facility. The result is a versatile urban sports destination for the entire community.
A new generation skatepark in the heart of Osdorp
This is not a traditional bowl, but a free-form flow bowl designed for smooth lines, natural transitions, and versatile use for skaters of all levels. Its shape encourages speed, creativity, and continuous movement, without a fixed direction or standard layout.
During construction, extra attention was given to drainage, detailing, and finishing. The concrete was hand-shaped to optimize flow and durability, while subtle variations in height and curvature add variety to every line. Thanks to this careful execution, the park can withstand intensive use and typical Dutch weather conditions.
