Pier Parade, more than a skateboard contest
For the 2025 edition of Pier Parade, Nine Yards, Flatspot Magazine, and Pier 15 Skatepark joined forces to set a new standard for skateboard contests in the Netherlands. The goal: to create an event that went beyond competition, blending skateboard culture, design, and music into one complete experience.
Nine Yards designed three unique obstacles:
-
Santa Cruz spine: a double spine functioning as both a miniramp and double rail – perfect for creative lines and unexpected tricks.
-
Red Bull wave ledge: a nine-meter-long, flowing ledge combining technical precision and style.
-
Blue Tomato gap: a massive gap with a ship-chain rail and a colorful ball pit underneath, creating a spectacular grand finale.
These obstacles challenged the riders and drew the crowd close to the action, resulting in an intense and immersive experience.
International skateboard line-up and spectacular tricks in Breda
The design and construction process of the obstacles was carried out in close collaboration with partners and riders, where functionality and creativity went hand in hand. Nine Yards designed the obstacles in-house, with a focus on both the riding experience and the visual impact for spectators and media.
On the event day, everything came together: an international line-up of skateboarders including Jake Wooten, Adrien Bulard, and Tim Zom, live DJs, and performances by Fellatio, Pim Piet, and BUG. The wins were divided across the three obstacles, but Adrien Bulard claimed the MVP title thanks to his consistent level of skating and iconic treflip to flat.
